Academy of Creative Art was founded in 1991. Photography Education was introduced in 2007. Like all the present activities of ACA, the administration is led by Shri N. G. Bangur, Shri Abhiprasun Chattopadhyay and Shri Debajyoti Bhowmick. Raja Abhimannyu is the convener with Shri Himanshu Karmakar in support for all the daily chores.

Photography Education at ACA could commence due to the sincere efforts of Shri Rathin Chakraborty and Shri Soumyakanti Chakraborty in the formative days. The main reason of a positive head start was the presence of Shri Arun Ganguly with his immense experience in teaching photography. Shri Dipankar Mondal was instrumental in inculcating family bondage which paved the way for relationships beyond the blackboard. Presence of Shri Soumen Mukherjee helped in structuring study materials related to the fundamental theoretical aspects. It was a period of transition from analog to digital technology in photography and Shri Pinaki Ranjan Majumdar was the key in aid to welcome this change.

In running the preliminary curricula in photography Raja Abhimannyu has the able support of Honourary Resource Persons Shri Rathin Chakraborty, Shri Partha Mitra and Shri Subhasis Ghose, who are extremely experienced and friendly in guidance. The studio floor of Shri Partha Mitra is often used for discussions on indoor lighting.

In running the advance curriculum in photography ACA tries to expose wide avenues to the students. Honourary Guest Resource Persons Shri Salil Biswas, Shri Soumitra Dutta, Shri Kushal Gangopadhyay and Shri Judhajit Dasgupta share their unique thoughts and experiences in the diverse fields of photography.

ACA is also rewarded with guest lectures by senior photographers like Shri Sunil K Dutt and Shri Asis Sanyal and for those on art by Smt Subrata B Dutta.

ACA preaches the joy of seeing and endeavours to understand the reasons behind.
